In 2005 the headquarters of Telefónica de España entrusted Martifer with the cover and facades of its innovative building. It is the largest ecologically sustainable building in Spain. Martifer worked on a total area of 50,000 m² wherein 12,500 tons of metal structure were used, in a timescale of only 24 months. The new Telefónica building presented the problem that it has a large roof common to all the buildings comprised of beams of 3m in height that form cross-linked grid structures of 64 m², a complicated constructive challenge for Martifer.
