Martifer has built the new glass production factory for the Saint-Gobain company in the Romanian region of Calarasi. It is the largest work of Martifer Constructions outside the Iberian Peninsula.
The metal structure work consisted in the erection of 3,300 tons of structure, the production being split between Benavente, Oliveira de Frades and Poland. The covered area totalling 36,000 m² was waterproofed by means of a deck type arrangement with a vapour barrier.
And the facades were clad with metal cassettes, totalling about 23,000 m². In addition, ten gantry cranes were mounted, the biggest with a span of 41m and a capacity of 16 tons. This was a complicated job as regards engineering and construction.
