José Sócrates, Portugal Prime Minister, visits Martifer Solar installations in Oliveira de Frades. The visit, within an institutional framework which also led Socrates to make a tour of two other Martifer factories (metallic components for wind power and wind power turbines factories), also included the Minister of Economy and the Secretary of State for Energy, Carlos Zorrinho .
José Sócrates gave a speech in Martifer Solar factory in which he announced "major changes" in the Portuguese renewable energy policy, but he did not advance what changes, although the Secretary of State for Energy said the Government remained supporting the micro generation.
The Prime Minister thanked the Martifer effort to "boost the Portuguese business network with an industrial cluster of renewable energy what is a very significant support for the Portuguese economy.” He also referred to the Martifer great potential in exports and future expectations.
Meanwhile Jorge Martins, CEO of Martifer, welcomed Socrates to the factory and used the occasion to ask for more institutional support for the companies operating in Central Portugal, to face the crisis with more strength.
Martifer Solar Factory

The factory has a production capacity of 50 MW of solar panels that range from 220 to 240 W.
