Martifer Solar has been responsible for the installation and engineering of the deck of Torre de Cristal, located at the top of this Madrilenian skyscraper of 245 metres. The cover, one design of building photovoltaic architectural integration, uses glass with siliceous polycrystalline cells.
This Torre de Cristal solar photovoltaic installation is the highest in the world. The implementation of the deck is a major challenge of engineering and installation for Martifer Solar. The height and building characteristics make necessary to count with mountaineers to complete the implementation of the glass that content the photovoltaic cells, weighing 120 kilograms each, and this speaks of the difficulties of the work, to which must be added the strong currents of air that workers have to endure at that height.
In addition the engineers, commanded by Ricardo Moros, have had to develop a laborious process dimensioning the facility to search the best efficiency and the full integration of the installation into the building.
The company La Veneciana de Saint-Gobain has been in charge of the design and supply of the photovoltaic material of architectural integration used for the cover. These materials are formed by two layers of glass, between them are fixed solar photovoltaic cells of polycrystalline siliceous. The deck, 285 m2, generates over 32 KW of photovoltaic solar energy that will for be used for the upkeep of the building, thereby contributing to its supply and energy self-sufficiency.
This installation of Torre de Cristal supposed to Martifer Solar one of its most emblematic projects on its face as a company installation, an important milestone that speaks of the company's capacity to deal with large-scale works and technical complexity.
