A presence in the local market is very important for Martifer Solar, for the enhanced publicity it generates. From the outset Martifer Solar has argued that the future of solar energy lies in decentralized production, namely microgeneration, which is a market niche in which we find ourselves perfectly identified.
Paulo Figueiredo, Microgeneration Director of Martifer Solar, claims that “if Portugal wants to be at the forefront of the world in terms of renewable energy developments, it must necessarily back photovoltaic solar energy, because through this it will manage to reduce the losses produced on the grid, CO2 emissions will be avoided, and energy production costs will be diminished; this opportunity cannot be missed”.
The market for the photovoltaic industry in Portugal is oriented toward individual supply facilities, in which it is possible to sell the surplus produced. A unique reference rate of € 650/MWh is established for the first 5 years of installation lifetime. To obtain this rate, the photovoltaic investor is limited to a power output of 3.68 kW, for which reason all the facilities are reduced to microgeneration.
