With a new less bureaucratic legislation, a capacity of 1,200 MW and based on a system of rates, the Italian market is destined to become the third photovoltaic solar energy market in the world.
Being an international provider and already present as a promoter in markets with large plants, Martifer Solar could not allow the Italian market to escape. As from 2009 Italy will represent a substantial part of the business turnover of Martifer Solar.
The Italian market reached 100 MW at the beginning of the year, although most of its facilities are below 10 kW. Now, however, they are contemplating large facilities based on the Spanish model.
The main characteristics of the Italian market are its youth, many hours of sunlight, high radiation and strong growth, and the support of an important promotional policy.
According to Pedro Pereira, General Manager of Martifer Solar in Italy, “relying on the important synergies developed within the Martifer Group, the experience in the Spanish Market, the strong financial standing and other factors important for success, the Martifer Solar objectives in the Italian market are clearly ambitious, and we are calculating that the annual growth rate will reach double figures. Moreover we aim to be among the three main contractors in the Italian market”.
