solar photovoltaic projects in Belgium
The Belgian Market is a growth market in terms of renewable energies. At present it is far from meeting the European directives concerning the proportion of renewable energy sources used for general consumption, but the different Belgian governments all want to back these sources as a tool for reducing dependence on nuclear power.
This is a market that is starting to believe in renewables, including solar energy, where different types of investors are appearing, interested in its operation. Martifer Solar wants to be the largest producer of solar power plants in Belgium, concentrating initially on Flanders and later the rest of the country.
For Martifer being present in the Belgian market signifies a major opportunity. Ricardo Meireles, General Manager of Martifer Solar in Belgium, considers that “the Belgian market is developing policies to encourage the use of renewable energies and being here at this time will give Martifer Solar a unique opportunity to be the leading company of the solar photovoltaic industry in this country”.
Martifer Solar is undertaking a major project in Belgium which involves the construction of 30 MW of rooftop solar photovoltaic facilities to be implemented in two years. The work is distributed throughout Flanders.
